How to remove ads from MSN Messenger?

June 22, 2006 20066 4:23 pm | In Tech |

I don't normally write tech posts, but this time I have to write this for the benefit of those out there who search for the phrase 'how to remove ads from msn messenger' and get a result which uses resource hacker, a utility which won't be very familiar for most ppl and needless to say take quite a long time to do and might be too complex for most to understand.

So thanks to this Chinese website, this guy created a patch that just requires you to download and double-click to open it and it'll work right away.

So just to make it clear to those still unsure, this is the step-by-step method of doing it:

*Make sure your MSN Messenger is switched off first

1. Download the patch - Link
2. Once done, double-click on it to run it.
3. A pop-up will come up telling you that it's compatible with MSN versions 6.X - 8.X and if you like it you can donate some money to the developer.
4. That's it, you can now run your MSN Messenger ad-free.

The developer often updates it whenever a new MSN version is out, so it should work for all versions.

Note that by using the patch you're violating the Microsoft EULA. I decline all responsibility for your actions! This site is not affiliated in any way with the Microsoft Corporation. All registered trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Update: If you wanna do more than remove the ads at the bottom, try A-Patch as well - Link. With 70 features which you can disable/add, this could be the ultimate software for customising your MSN.
