How to import Outlook mail to GMail?
July 23, 2006 20067 8:43 am | In Tech |I've been researching on this since I wanted to keep a copy of all the mail I received while in college and since I've graduated, they'll be removing the access to my outlook files soon. So, after much experimenting and searching, here's the tried and tested way of importing Outlook mail to GMail:
1. Open Outlook Express and Import from Outlook.
2. Open Thunderbird and Import from Outlook Express (if you skip step 1, the files can't be uploaded by gExodus for some reason)
3. Find your Personal Folder for Thunderbird to find your Mbox file which contains all the file (e.g. Inbox - note no extensions at all to the file)
4. Download gExodus and just fill in the blanks. Note that you might need to change GMail's SMTP address to gsmtp183.google.com but best to check it here.
