Last words from my lecturers =)

Dang…missed my own convocation and it's probably the only one I'll ever have but at least there were something left for me. Some interesting words from my lecturers:

‘Engineering is the art of converting theory into practice but…
Theory is when one knows everything, but nothing works.
Practice is when everything works, but no one knows why.
Here we combine theory and practice: Nothing works and no one knows why!’

Here’s my favourite quote, maybe useful to you in understanding my perspective on what the last four years were about:

‘We are attempting to educate students today so that they will be ready to solve future problems that have not yet been identified, using technologies not yet invented, based on scientific knowledge not yet discovered’. – J.Chem.Ed.

Of course, some of us might be tempted to paraphrase this high-minded statement simply as:

‘2002-2006: Huh?’

Seriously though, good luck to you all. I had fun teaching you, I hope some of it was fun for you too.
