Apartments at The Sail at Marina Bay, which were going for $2,000 psf are now being offered for sale at $1,450 psf, said Mr Young.
But even such a huge discount is failing to entice buyers, who are asking for $1,100 psf. That is because even with such discounts, the two-room apartment costs about $1.3 million.
wow, hope it happens in KL soon

Andrew Lahde, manager of a small California hedge fund, Lahde Capital, burst into the spotlight last year after his one-year-old fund returned 866 percent betting against the subprime collapse.
Last month, he did the unthinkable — he shut things down, claiming dealing with his bank counterparties had become too risky. Today, Lahde passed along his "goodbye" letter, a rollicking missive on everything from greed to economic philosophy. Enjoy.

Over the 16 years studied, the funds with the highest divergence index readings — those with the least diversification — produced the greatest average returns. By contrast, the most diversified funds lagged behind the market. The researchers found that the 10 percent of funds that were least diversified performed 1.9 percent a year better than the 10 percent that best represented the broad stock market. This result persisted even after adjusting the performances of the least-diversified funds for any greater risk they might have incurred.

"A team of students from Houston's Rice University are a virtual lock for a Nobel Prize with their latest research. They've bioengineered a beer that has anticancer properties. Each sip of their new brew contains resveratrol, the chemical found in wine and believed to be responsible for reduced cancer rates in lab tests. How long before you can find Resveratrol IPA on store shelves?"

A simple rule dictates my buying: Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. And most certainly, fear is now widespread, gripping even seasoned investors. To be sure, investors are right to be wary of highly leveraged entities or businesses in weak competitive positions.

“It is not enough to be very comfortable creating relationships,” Mr. Wright-Swadel said. “Networking needs to be planned and learned.”
First, he said, you must know what your goal is — not the long-term one of getting a job, but the immediate one of that particular conversation.
“You can’t expect the person you’re talking to to do all the work,” he said. So saying, “Tell me all about you and what I need to be successful,” is not a good strategy, Mr. Wright-Swadel said.

“The fact is, there are a lot of tremendous bargains out there,” said Mr. Heebner, who manages about $10 billion in several mutual funds.
Finally, some positive news.
